Midfielder for Al Shabab, Saudi Pro League
Josh Brownhill (b. 19 December 1995, Warrington) is a 29‑year‑old English central midfielder currently without a club following his contract expiry with Burnley on 30 June 2025. A product of Manchester United’s academy, Brownhill established himself at Preston, Barnsley, and Bristol City before joining Burnley in January 2020 for around £9 million.

What we did
In the 2024–25 Championship season, Brownhill made 42 appearances, scoring 18 goals and adding six assists, a total of 24 goal involvements, averaging 0.62 per 90 minutes. He ended the campaign as Burnley’s top scorer, helping the side to win promotion with 100 points and a club-record 33-game unbeaten run.
Known for his late runs into the box, Brownill has shown a high goal conversion rate (0.47 goals/90, 100% penalty success) and excellent passing (82% completion, 1.27 key passes/90). Over his Burnley career, he made 211 appearances for the club, built a reputation for consistency, leadership, and tactical versatility.
As a midfield leader, Brownhill offers all-encompassing qualities: vision, delivery, scoring threat, and resilience, attributes that align with KPI’s standards for high-performance footballers. With his status now as a free agent, his blend of Championship-winning experience and frontline impact make him an asset for any team.
At KPI, our proudest moment of working with Josh includes supporting his physical preparation full-time whilst a free agent in the summer of 2025. This exciting period saw us support Josh in significantly improving his all round athleticism, including taking his max sprint speed to an all time high of 9.60 ms from his previous best of 9.40 ms. Closely after this, Josh gained a big move to Saudi Pro League club, Al-Shabab!
