Matt McConville

Assistant Coach

As a kid growing up, I was always obsessed with playing football dreaming to be a professional like every other kid. I played at a high level where I ended up going over to America on a football scholarship. When playing didn’t work out for me I knew I still wanted to work in professional football in some capacity which is when I started going down the performance sport pathway.

I attended Liverpool John Moores University where I completed a BSc Science and Football going onto complete a MSc Strength and Conditioning. During my time at university, I gained fantastic real-world experience through placements and Liverpool FC and Everton Ladies FC. Since graduating I have worked with a host of different individual athletes and teams from a range of different sports such as Football, Rugby, Gaelic, Basketball etc. This has led me to where I am now where I work as a Physical Performance Coach for Man City Women’s Academy and now KPI.

I am extremely excited to start my journey with KPI where I will be working closely with the KPI Academy and female athletes where much of my experience lies, to develop and monitor these athletes’ physical capabilities as they mature and prepare them for the senior level.

Three things you should know about me:

  • I’ve been coaching for 5 years now.
  • I’m a Man United fan (don’t say anything when we lose).
  • I love a pint of Guinness.
